Women & Money: How to Grow it, Stretch it, & Have Enough to Last a Lifetime, an interactive symposium for women of all ages will be presented by the Penn Forum for Women Faculty, co-sponsored by PASEF (Penn Association of Senior and Emeritus Professors) on Tuesday, March 20, 3:30-5 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Meeting Room, Room 218, Houston Hall. Recent evidence suggests that women need to save much more than men for retirement. Women live longer and tend to live longer as singles during retirement and they often fail to plan adequately for what they hoped would be their “golden years.” This symposium will cover topics that women should focus on now to build a successful financial foundation for the future. Dr. Olivia S. Mitchell, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans Professor from the Wharton School will begin by outlining key challenges for women’s future financial security, and then will moderate a discussion among the panelists.
The panel will include Jennifer Crowe of TIAA-CREF, Margaret E. W. Sager of Heckscher, Teillon, Terrill & Sager, P.C. and Alisa M. Shin of Vanguard.
