Peter Struck, professor and chair of the department of classical studies at University of Pennsylvania, was recently awarded the Society for Classical Studies’ Charles J. Goodwin Award of Merit. Dr. Struck, the Evan C Thompson Term Professor for Excellence in Teaching,  was recognized for his most recent book, Divination and Human Nature: A Cognitive History of Intuition in Classical Antiquity.

This is his second time receiving the Goodwin Award, having also been awarded for his first book, Birth of the Symbol: Ancient Readers at the Limits of Their Texts.
