Holiday Shopping Savings Days: “Beads Go Global”
Penn Museum’s three shops—the Museum Shop, the Second Site shop, and the Pyramid Shop for children—deck out for the holidays, with holiday-oriented merchandise like international ornaments and cards, as well as a rich assortment of international arts, crafts and jewelry. Specials this season: new gold-plated jewelry inspired by the Precolumbian artifacts from Penn Museum’s “River of Gold” exhibition, and handcrafted beads and beaded jewelry inspired by diverse cultures. Over the weekend, local bead makers and bead collectors visit the shops to make and sell their original jewelry creations. Visitors during the holiday shopping days enjoy these discounts: 10% off all purchases (general public); 15% off all purchases (University of Pennsylvania, HUP and CHOP employees, with I.D.) and 20% off all purchases (Museum Members with I.D.). For updated information on Holiday Shopping Days, check the Museum website at www.museum.upenn.edu, or call the Museum Shop at (215) 898-4040, or the Pyramid Shop for children at (215) 898-4022.

12th Annual Peace Around The World:  Passport to Culture
Penn Museum continues its tradition of offering the community its free holiday time program—and wish for world peace—at this 12th annual family-oriented event. This year’s theme is a “Holiday Passport to Cultures.”  Visitors receive Museum “passports” and itineraries. They’ll meet up with Penn Museum International Classroom speakers to learn about holiday traditions in countries around the world. International holiday crafts, regional children’s choirs, games, face painting, and holiday discounts in the Museum shops—even free treats for children—are part of the afternoon. For more info: (215) 898-4890.
