On December 10, the Penn Humanties Forum will host Beautiful Science: The Architecture of Butterflies at 5 p.m. in Rainey Auditorium of the Penn Museum.
The brilliant colors of butterfly wings reveal much about aesthetics, evolution and engineering. How do their patterns provide protective camouflage in tropical rain forests? How is nanotechnology using the waterproofing properties of butterfly colors to fabricate energy-efficient materials for buildings?
In this panel discussion, Penn researchers discuss how their pioneering scientific and technological work imitates nature. See Talks.

| At Native American Voices: The People—Here and Now, a new long-term interactive exhibition at the Penn Museum, visitors will learn about contemporary issues in Native America. Set against the backdrop of more than 200 objects from the Museum’s expansive collections from the United States and Canada, the exhibition challenges stereotypes and tells powerful stories of Native American successes in achieving independence as sovereign, self-governing Nations. At multimedia stations, visitors will experience audio and video clips of contemporary Native Americans speaking of the many ways in which they maintain their religious, political, linguistic and artistic independence.
