Butabu: Adobe Architecture of West Africa, the exhibit at the Penn Museum featuring the work of photographer James Morris, offers a stunning visual survey of complex adobe structures, like the Coumound in Sirigu, Ghana (above). Mr. Morris’s work centers on the built environment and the cultural landscape and is a vivid reminder of the communal effort required to maintain these buildings. The traveling exhibition of 50 photographs will be on view at the Penn Museum through March 3, 2007.
