Humanities Forum: Time

This year the Penn Humanities Forum will consider Time in its many dimensions. With six scheduled events starting today and running through December 14, Time will be explored through lectures, exhibitions, movies, musical programs, and literary readings. Today at 5:30 p.m., J.T. Fraser, founder of the International Society for the Study of Time, will speak at 200 College Hall.

Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research Retreat

The Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research will hold their 2nd annual retreat, Emerging Alzheimer’s Disease Therapies: Focusing on the Future on Wednesday, November 7. The event features a full program of speakers presenting current research and advances in Alzheimer’s disease therapies. Dr. John Trojanowski, Co-Director of the Center will open the program with introductory comments in the Dunlop Auditorium.

The speakers are: Dr. Ivan Lieberburg, Elan Corporation; Dr. Cynthia Lemere, Harvard Medical School; Dr. Samuel Gandy, NYU Medical School; Dr. Ashley Bush, Harvard Medical School; Dr. Blas Frangione, NYU Medical School; Dr. Martin Citron, Amgen, Incorporated; Dr. Yue-Min Li, Merck & Company; Dr. Sangram S. Sisodia, University of Chicago; Dr. Virginia M.-Y. Lee, Dr. Christopher Clark, and Dr. Jason Karlawish, Penn.

Rape Aggression Defense

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Program is being offered by the Penn Police Department. The course is free to Penn women: students, faculty and staff.

The schedule for September is:

  • Sept. 25, Oct. 2, 9, 16; 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 29, Oct. 6; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Additional classes will be held in October; see October At Penn calendar in this issue.
