Memorial Service for Dr. Wolfgang
A memorial service for Dr. Marvin E. Wolfgang, professor of criminology
and law, will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 4 p.m. in Alumni Hall
at the Faculty Club. Dr. Wolfgang died on April 12 at the age of 73 (Almanac
April 21).
Scholarship and Research Fund Established
The Wharton School recently announced the establishment of a scholarship and research fund in memory of Shannon Schieber, the Wharton Ph.D. student who died last spring (Almanac May 12, 1998). The Shannon Schieber Memorial Doctoral Scholarship is awarded annually to a promising female entering her second year of study in the Wharton Doctoral Program. The first recipient is Susan Hogan, in marketing.
A fund at the Wharton School has also been established in memory of
Ms. Schieber to help support Insurance and Risk Management doctoral student
research. Contributions to The Shannon Schieber Memorial Doctoral Research
Fund are tax deductible and should be made out to the Trustees of the University
of Pennsylvania and mailed to Olivia Mitchell, Wharton School, 3641 Locust
Walk, Rm. 304 CPC/6218.
