Campbell Grey, associate professor of classical studies, has been named a 2019 Fellow by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). The fellowship will support his current research project, “Living with Risk in the Late Roman World.” Dr. Grey’s project explores everyday interactions between human populations and the physical world in the period between the third and sixth centuries CE. He studies the late and post-Roman world, with a particular emphasis on rural communities in late antiquity.
“The 2019 ACLS Fellows exemplify ACLS’s inclusive vision of excellence in the humanities and humanistic social sciences,” said Matthew Goldfeder, director of ACLS fellowship programs. The Fellowship program is the longest-running grant program of the ACLS.
