On Saturday, October 25 at 3:30 p.m., Steve Vinson of Indiana University will speak on Unwrapping Egyptology and the Occult: The Curious Case of Battiscombe Gunn and Aleister Crowley at the Penn Museum. Crowley, (above) a notorious British occultist who proudly proclaimed himself the “Beast 666,” maintained a relationship with famed Egyptologist Gunn—who, along with several contemporaries, was interested in the esoteric and the occult.
