Officer Morrison, Public Safety
Officer James Kevin (Jimmy) Morrison of the University of Pennsylvania Police Department (UPPD) in the Division of Public Safety, passed away August 29 due to injuries sustained from an off-duty motorcycle accident; he was 47.
He had been riding his motorcycle in Culpeper, Virginia, as part of his annual ride with the Blue Knights, a nonprofit organization of law enforcement officers who raise money for different charities. He was the head of the Pennsylvania chapter of the Blue Knights.
"Officer Jimmy Morrison was a model father, husband, Patriot, University of Pennsylvania Police Officer. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends," said Vice President for Public Safety, Maureen S. Rush.
He joined UPPD in 2007, after 13 years with the Philadelphia Housing Authority Police. He had also served as a member of the Armed Forces, deployed on several combat missions in the past ten years.
Officer Morrison is survived by his wife, Wendy; his son, James, Jr.; his mother, Jane; his brother, Calvin; and his two sisters, Karen Hewins and Joy. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
