Because of your support and cooperation, ISC’s initiative to transition the campus from an analog-based telephone system to a digital VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) has returned impressive results. ISC is pleased to announce that 67% of the University’s telephone system is now PennNet Phone. This means 67% of the Schools and Departments are taking advantage of the features and benefits of digital telephone technology coupled with substantial reductions in their telephone bills; however, 33% of callers are still ranked in the bottom telephone tier at Penn. These callers are using old telephone technology that is becoming harder for the vendor to support and repair. In addition, callers in the bottom tier are allocating a significant portion of their current budget towards telephone costs, and they will incur even higher telephone fees if they remain on the traditional telephone infrastructure. ISC encourages all Schools and Departments to move to a digital telephone and voice mail system that is becoming the standard across campus and in today’s global communication market. Now is the time to join your colleagues and move up from traditional telephone and voice mail service to PennNet Phone.
