Leslie Hurtig, C'89, has joined Penn Design as Associate Dean for Administration, Marilyn Jordan Taylor,
Dean and Paley Professor at the School of Design, announced recently.
Ms. Hurtig has spent two decades in public administration and nonprofit management, demonstrating collaborative leadership, successful financial oversight, creative problem solving, and innovation. Most recently, she was managing director for behavioral health services at Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), a $180 million nonprofit health and social services organization operating across Southeastern Pennsylvania. Under her 15-year leadership, PHMC's behavioral health network grew from four programs with combined revenues of $4 million to a $28 million network of 15 programs recognized as centers of excellence.
Prior to PHMC, Ms. Hurtig served as chief of staff in the New York City Mayor's Office of Medicaid Managed Care, a pioneer program in early healthcare reform.
A cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania majoring in English, with a master of public administration from New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, Ms. Hurtig has served on a variety of citywide behavioral health task forces, has appeared as a presenter at local and national conferences and is a former classical ballet dancer, as well as an avid patron of the performing and visual arts.
