 Engaging Students through Technology, a symposium for faculty and instructors will be held on Friday, October 26, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
It will be hosted by the Penn Libraries’ David B. Weigle Information Commons in conjunction with the School of Arts & Sciences.
Inside Out: Using Technology to Enhance Classroom Interactions will address the following topics:
- How can social media enhance face-to-face interactions with students?
- How can video and collaboration tools help students demonstrate their mastery of concepts?
- How can tech tools free up valuable class time and what can be done with this time?
The symposium will include a faculty panel, a student panel, lunch and an unconference-style afternoon where participants propose sessions.
Conference Schedule
10 to 11:15 a.m.—Cohen Hall Room 402
Faculty panel, including Al Filreis, Shannon Lundeen and Peter Struck (SAS), and Connie Scanga (Nursing).
11:15 a.m. to noon—Cohen Hall Room 402
Peter Decherney (SAS) will facilitate a panel discussion of undergraduate students who will share their perspectives.
Noon to 3 p.m.—Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center
Lunch with symposium presenters in the Weigle Information Commons followed by multiple afternoon sessions with topics proposed by participants.
