The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) has named Robert J. Schieri executive director of finance and administration.

“I am pleased and delighted by Robert’s appointment,” said Joan C. Hendricks, the Gilbert S. Kahn Dean of Penn Vet. “His experience and leadership skills will be invaluable to Penn Vet as we continue to lead in our mission of veterinary excellence. It is clear he will become an integral member of the School’s administration.”

As executive director of finance and administration for Penn Vet, Mr. Schieri is charged with ensuring that Penn Vet can meet its strategic objectives and fulfill its underlying mission, through financial, operational and strategic leadership efforts. In addition to overseeing all of Penn Vet’s business functions, he will also directly supervise the facilities and IT departments.

“I feel quite fortunate to be a part of Penn Vet,” said Mr. Schieri. “I’m impressed by the passion and dedication of the staff and leadership. It makes Penn Vet very special and unique.”

Most recently, Mr. Schieri has served as chief financial officer at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s School of Osteopathic Medicine. In that role, he provided key leadership in the business planning and financial structure for a proposed $50 million satellite branch campus and the acquisition of a new electronic health record. A graduate of Drexel University, Mr. Schieri has an MBA; he has also worked for the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Hospital.

Mr. Schieri and family live with two 15-year-old shelter cats, Ginger and Pepper. Growing up, Mr. Schieri had everything from dogs and rabbits to turtles and a raccoon.
