MAGPI, part of ISC’s Networking & Telecommunications, presents the Spring 2011 Grants & Funding Series for participation by members of the Penn community; faculty, staff, and students may participate in the workshops live from MAGPI’s studios at 3401 Walnut Street, Suite 232A. Schools may also register their own sites as host viewing locations. Studio seating is limited. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS): Grants and Programs Workshop: April 13, 10-11:30 a.m., Mary Alice Ball, senior program officer, Institute of Museum and Library Services. This interactive session is an overview of the grants and programs that are part of the IMLS, the federal agency that supports the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. Learn about IMLS’s grant programs, tips on negotiating the application process, and its peer-review process and the agency’s current strategic priorities: digital inclusion, 21st century skills, and digital curation. Biomedical Informatics Grant Programs at the National Library of Medicine: April 27, 2-3 p.m., Valerie Florance, associate director, Extramural Programs at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). An interactive session covering types of grants and program priorities for grants offered by the NLM, which is part of NIH.
