Upgrade of the Blackboard Transaction System
PDF
December 8, 2009, Volume 56, No. 14

PennCard is pleased to announce the upgrade of the Blackboard Transaction System!

The Blackboard Transaction System is the backbone of our campus commerce system that enables over six million transactions per year throughout campus using PennCards. New features, such as sophisticated touch screen point- of-sale devices, robust reporting capabilities, and newly configurable menus, will have a big impact on day-to-day campus operations for merchants and customers alike.

We appreciate that this change will impose some inconvenience so we have planned this upgrade to occur in early January, historically a low activity time of year, to minimize the disruption to service. Because a significant amount of work will occur during the Winter Break, we have been able to limit the interruption to January 5, 6, and 7, 2010 when PennCard transactions that require a PennCard to be swiped will NOT be available.

Transaction types that are affected are:

• PennCash

• Dining Dollars

• Meal Plans

• Student Financial Services Line of Credit

• Attendance tracking

We appreciate your support during this transition. Please contact Suzanne Bellan, director, PennCard, at (215) 573-4572 or bellan@upenn.edu with any questions or concerns.
