Notice from Penn Public Safety

The Division of Public Safety has been informed of a text messaging “Phishing” scam attempting to collect personal information that could be later used for criminal identity theft activity.

Victims have reported receiving a text message from “Credit Union Account Services” telling them that their account has been deactivated and to call 1-888-XXX-XXXX to restore their account. When they called the phone number they were then prompted to give personal information such as debit card PIN numbers and expiration dates. 

If you receive this text message, DO NOT RESPOND. This is a scam. Report the incident to the Penn Police (215) 573-3333 or your local police department.

Reporting Identity Theft

If you become a victim of identity theft, you can report the incident to the Penn Police Department by calling (215) 573-3333 or 511 from a campus phone.
