Melissa Smith: Penn Museum’s Chief Operating Officer

Melissa P. Smith has been appointed the Penn Museum’s Chief Operating Officer, effective July 21. 

Dr. Richard Hodges, Williams Director, Penn Museum, announced Ms. Smith’s appointment to this newly established position. She will oversee the Museum’s business administration, including finance, facilities, marketing, rentals, sales, security, information technology, and visitor services.

Ms. Smith is currently director of finance in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer. She came to Penn in 2006, after serving as chief financial officer of the MinSec Companies and director of investment banking at Commerce Capital Markets.

She earned an MBA in finance from Temple University and a bachelor of commerce in marketing and international business from McGill University, and she holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
