Health Aware is an ongoing series designed to help you be proactive in managing your health and healthcare by taking advantage of the many resources available to you as a Penn employee.

Caremark iBenefit Reports

If you’ve made use of Penn’s prescription benefits during this plan year, you’ll soon be receiving a personalized iBenefit Report from Caremark at your home address.

With healthcare costs rising so fast and so consistently, it’s important to understand the true value of your Penn prescription benefits. Your iBenefit Report provides a detailed summary of your prescription drug costs over the past year—including exactly how much you paid for your medications, and how much the University paid. Depending on what medications you’re taking and how you purchase them, your report will also explain how you may be able to reduce your costs substantially:

• Select generic drugs rather than name brands, when possible.

• Use Caremark’s mail order program for your maintenance or long-term medications.

For more information or for help making cost-conscious decisions about your prescription drugs, contact Caremark at 1-800-378-0802 or visit www.caremark.com.

Free Medical Coverage Drawing Deadline: April 30

Through April 30, Penn faculty and staff receiving medical coverage through the University can enter a drawing to win a year of free medical coverage by completing a confidential online health risk assessment. This assessment asks basic questions about your health habits and family history, and in return provides a detailed picture of your current health that you can share with your doctor and use to head off potential future health risks.

Three winners of the free medical coverage drawing will be announced in May. Health risk assessments will still be available for free after the April 30 deadline, but entry to the drawing will be closed. For more information about health risk assessments and the free medical coverage drawing, visit the Human Resources website at www.hr.upenn.edu.
