A Conversation with University Trustee Lee Spelman Doty, W ’76
February 12, 2008, Volume 54, No. 21

Doty

Who are the Trustees? What is their role at the University? What impact do they have on your experience as part of the Penn community?

The Penn Professional Staff Assembly (PPSA) is pleased to announce an exciting and unique opportunity for professional staff members: Thursday, February 21, noon–1:30 p.m. in the Golkin Room, Houston Hall (2nd Floor).

Ms. Lee Spelman Doty will join an intimate group of professional staff members for an informal conversation on a wide variety of topics. Seating will be limited to the first 30 staff members to RSVP.  Once the initial 30 seats have been reserved, we will begin adding names to a wait list.

To reserve a space, e-mail PPSA@pobox.upenn.edu with your name, e-mail address, and department. If space is available, you will receive an e-mail confirming your reservation.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch to this event. For more information, including Ms. Doty’s complete bio, visit the PPSA website at www.upenn.edu/ppsa.

Ms. Lee Spelman Doty began her involvement as a Penn volunteer in the late ’80s, when she was involved in the planning of her 15th reunion.  Since then, she has served as a member of her 20th Reunion Gift Committee and co-chair of her 25th and 30th Reunion Gift Committee. In 2002, Ms. Doty was elected to the University Board of Trustees as an Alumni Trustee for five years, after which she was elected to a term Trustee slot on the Board.  Doty has also served as a member of the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women, as co-chair of the Council’s Development Committee, co-chair of the Leadership Committee, and Council Vice Chair.  In addition, she is a member of the Graduate School of Education Board of Overseers. Together with her husband, George, she recently endowed a scholarship at Wharton and a fellowship at GSE.

Her dedication and generosity extend beyond Penn as well.  A managing director at J.P. Morgan Fleming Asset Management, the money management arm of J.P. Morgan Chase, she serves as co-Chair of the Diversity Council.  Ms. Doty is a chartered financial analyst and is responsible for the firm’s US equity client portfolio managers.  She also sits on the executive board of Project YESS (Young Executives Supporting Schools) and has served for six years as the head of development as a board member of Catholic Big Sisters.
