McCabe Fund Awards Call for Applications: May 31
The McCabe Fund Advisory Committee is calling for applications from junior faculty in the School of Medicine and the School of Veterinary Medicine for the Thomas B. and Jeannette E. Laws McCabe Fund Fellow and Pilot awards for 2006-2007.
Junior faculty in these schools who are interested in applying for an award this year should contact the chair of their department or call Dana J. Napier, School of Medicine Administration, at (215) 573-3221. The deadline for submission is May 31, 2006. The McCabe Fund Advisory Committee will announce the winners at its annual June meeting.
Last year, Dr. Mark Forman, department of pathology and laboratory medicine and
Dr. Vickas Patel, department of medicine, received a Fellow Award of $40,000 each.
Winners of the Pilot Award of $25,832 each were:
Dr. Matthew Botvinick, department of psychiatry;
Dr. Edward Brodkin, department of psychiatry;
Dr. Jon Burnham, department of pediatrics;
Dr. Sanjay Dixit, department of medicine;
Dr. Tanya Ferguson, department of neuroscience;
Dr. Scott Lorch, department of pediatrics;
Dr. Lisa Madge, department of clinical biology;
Dr. Mahlet Tadesse, department of biostatistics and epidemiology;
Dr. Darren Taichman, department of medicine;
Dr. Rachel Werner, department of medicine;
Dr. Theoklis Zaoutis, department of pediatrics; and
Dr. Jun Zhu, department of microbiology.
The McCabe Awards were established in 1969 by a generous gift from Mr. Thomas B. McCabe to Penn’s School of Medicine to support junior faculty who initiate fresh and innovative biomedical and surgical research projects and who have received no or limited external research funding while in their first through third years at the School of Medicine or the School of Veterinary Medicine.
