Deaths

Mr. Maclennan, Wharton MBA Student

Niall Maclennan

Niall Maclennan, a second year student in Wharton’s MBA program, died November 13 from a heart attack caused by a pre-existing heart condition. He was 30 years old.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Mr. Maclennan completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1997.

While at Penn, he served on the Leadership Lecture Series Committee, was co-president of the Scotch Club, and was a member of the Wharton Rugby team.

Mr. Maclennan is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Maclennan; brother, Lorne; and his fiancée, Jessica Faulkner. An on campus memorial is being planned for late January. Details will be published in Almanac.

 

Mr. Salute, Operation and Maintenance

Roy J. Salute, Sr., retired electrical foreman, died November 29 at the age of 78.

Mr. Salute  had worked at Penn for 32 years before he retired from his position in physical plant department in 1992. He was recently honored by the Delaware County Fireman’s Association for over 50 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two sons, Steven and Roy Jr.; two grandchildren, Kristin and Roy J. III; and two sisters, Sister Rachel Salute and Rita Stenger.
