Commencement: Kofi Annan
Secretary-General of the United Nations, and recipient of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize, Kofi Annan, will be Penn’s Commencement Speaker on May 16. Kofi Annan, the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, served previously as Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations.
Total Undergrad Charges Increases 5.4 Percent for 2005-2006
Total undergraduate charges for tuition, fees, and room and board at Penn will increase 5.4 percent for the 2005-2006 academic year, bringing the total cost of an undergraduate year to $41,766. The increase was approved on Thursday by the Board of Trustees.

Louis Berneman Stepping Down from New Post in Strategic Initiatives
Dr. Louis Berneman has decided to step down from his position as Special Advisor in the Office of Strategic Initiatives as of August 31, 2005 in order to move into the private sector and work with emerging technologies and start-up companies.
