June Chu: Director of PAACH

J. Chu

Dr. June Y. Chu is the new director of the Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH). She will support the needs of Penn's Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, develop programs that bridge Asian American Studies and student affairs, and cultivate a greater sense of the Pan-Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

"Dr. Chu is uniquely qualified to lead in fulfilling the mission of PAACH, and we are pleased to welcome her to Penn. She brings a depth of experience and commitment to our student community that will serve to strengthen all of our programs and new initiatives," said VPUL Dr. Valarie Swain-Cade McCoullum.

Prior to joining Penn this semester, Dr. Chu was a research analyst at the University of California, Davis, and a graduate researcher at the National Research Center on Asian American Health. She has also served as an associate instructor at the University of California, Davis.

"Being a part of the University of Pennsylvania community is a great thrill and I look forward to meeting and getting to know the diverse student body on campus. I hope to continue PAACH's commitment to serve the Asian American and Pacific Islander student on campus, while also bringing greater awareness to other Asian ethnic groups not only on campus, but also in Penn's surrounding communities."

Dr. Chu received her bachelor's in psychology from Bryn Mawr College, a master's in education from Harvard and a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of California, Davis.
