Dental faculty members and alumni were recognized for their
contributions and achievements as part of the school's
annual Alumni Faculty Senior Day, held April 14.
This
year's recipients of faculty awards, voted on by the senior
class, included the following:
Dr.
Yi-Tai Jou, assistant professor clinician educator
of endodontics received The Earle Bank Hoyt Award, given
to a Penn graduate who is a full-time junior faculty
member. This is the fourth year in a row that
Dr. Jou (D '99) received this award.
Dr.
Steven Liu, assistant professor clinician educator
of restorative dentistry--The Joseph L. T. Appleton Award,
presented to a part-time faculty member for excellence
in clinical teaching. Dr. Liu is a third-time recipient
of this honor.
Dr.
Nathan B. Kobrin, clinical assistant professor of
restorative dentistry--The Robert E. DeRevere Award for
excellence in preclinical teaching by a part-time faculty
member.
Dr.
Elliot Hersh, professor of pharmacology in the Department
of Oral Surgery/Pharmacology--The Basic Science Award
for excellence in teaching within the basic sciences.
This is the 11th straight year that Dr. Hersh received
this award.
A special
award from the Class of 2004 was also presented to former Dean
Dr. Raymond Fonseca, Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery. In addition, Dr. Edward P. Henefer, (D '54,
GD '56) was the recipient of the Alumni Award of Merit.
