Grad School Rankings

Four of Penn's schools are on the top ten list of the best graduate schools compiled by U.S. News & World Report. The complete survey is in the newsstand book, America's Best Graduate Schools which came out yesterday. Excerpts are in the April 12 issue of the magazine. The following is a list of the schools and their ranking. (Last year's rankings are in parentheses).

#3 Wharton (#2)
#4 Medicine--research oriented  (#4)
#7 Law (#7)
#9 Education (#6)

Business, education, engineering, law, and medicine are ranked annually.

This year Engineering moved to #26, up from #29, with biomedical/bioengineering specialty ranked #5 this year up from #8 last year.

Social Work is at #13; it was last ranked in the year 2000 at #11.

Wharton School's  top specialties:

#1 Finance (#1)
#2 Executive M.B.A. (#2)
#2 Marketing (#2)
#3 Entrepreneurship (#2)
#3 International (#3)
#4 Production/Operations (#4)
#5 Management (#5)
#5 Supply Chain/Logistics (#3)
#6 Information Systems (#6)

The rankings are based solely on ratings by educators at peer schools.

The School of Medicine's  top specialties are:

#2 Women's Health (#2)
#3 Pediatrics (#2)
#4 Research (not ranked)
#6 Drug/Alcohol (#4)
#6 Internal Medicine (#5)
#10 Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.) (not ranked)
