The
King of Latin Music at Annenberg Center
Tito Puente and His Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform at Zellerbach
Theatre in Annenberg Center on
Saturday, February 26 at 8 p.m.
Puente, known as the "King of Latin Music," redefined the
role of percussionists in big bands as the drummer for Machito's band in
the 1940s. He then went on to lead his own band, and is well-known for his
extroverted personality and flamboyant stage presence. He has also made
116 recordings and received four Grammy awards. |
